3.1.2.5.2. Connecting and radical rods

Typical defects of inserts

At high-quality service and regular replacement of oil and oil filters connecting and radical rods serve very long. A sign of damage of conrod bearings is the regular rhythmical loud knock from a bent shaft. Frequency depends on engine turns. Especially this knock is swept up when the engine works under loading. This sign is followed by oil pressure drop though usually it is imperceptible if the oil pressure sensor is not installed. Damage of the radical bearing is usually indicated by noticeable vibration, especially on big turns of the engine, and this vibration is followed by more essential pressure drop of oil and the "roaring" noise.

Connecting and radical rods are subject to obligatory replacement, however the inserts removed from the engine need to be subjected to examination as it is possible to determine a condition of the engine by their state.

Exit of their system of connecting and radical rods can happen because of a lack of lubricant, presence of dirt or other foreign debris, an overload of the engine or corrosion. Before assembly of the engine it is necessary to remove the cause of an exit of their system of inserts. Operation of the engine on small turns at high loadings when the oil pump does not create the high pressure and productivity, and oil can be one of the reasons, in turn, because of high loading, it is intensively squeezed out from a working zone. Frequent starts of the engine and a trip on short distances lead to corrosion as the engine not прогреваетсяв to a sufficient measure to remove water and corrosion gases.
