2.5.3. Check of turns of idling and composition of mix (SO)

Point of adjustment of turns of idling on models with the compensator of turns of idling

The point of adjustment of turns of idling is specified by an arrow.

Prevention

On models since 1994 the specified interval for this procedure – 30 000 km.


Before check of turns of idling and composition of mix it is necessary to check:

 – installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition;
 – condition of spark plugs;
 – an accelerator cable (on carburetor models – also a cable of the drive of a butterfly valve);
 – hoses of system of ventilation of a case;
 – the filtering element of the air filter;
 – system of production of exhaust gases;
 – compression and gap of valves.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To warm up the engine up to the normal working temperature and to make adjustment within 2 minutes, without stopping the engine.
2. If joins the electric fan of cooling of a radiator, adjustment to make only after its switching off.
Models with the carburetor
3. All electric consumers have to be switched off, the air gate is completely open.
4. If the car has no tachometer, to connect a tachometer according to the instruction.
5. To check turns of idling and to compare them to the data provided in subsection 3.1.1 (in subsection 3.3.1 for dm3 engines 1,4).

Prevention

Models with air conditioning have the device of compensation of the mode of idling.


6. Using the corresponding screw-driver, screw in the adjusting screw (to increase speed) or unscrew as required that turns of idling of the engine met standard.
7. Adjustment of contents WITH in exhaust gases is executed at manufacturer, no further adjustment is required. However after capital repairs of the carburetor repeated adjustment can be made.
8. Adjustment of contents WITH in exhaust gases can be made only at Peugeot car repair shops.
9. The screw of adjustment of turns of idling is closed by a stopper to prevent casual adjustment. For access to the screw it is necessary to take the sharp tool a stopper.
10. The screw-driver to turn the screw (it is specified by an arrow) mix regulations very slowly, the required SO level will not be established yet. Screwing up of the screw clockwise reduces contents WITH and vice versa, unscrewing of the screw counterclockwise increases contents WITH.
11. After adjustment of contents WITH to establish a new stopper cap and if necessary to adjust idling turns.

38. On models with system Magneti Marelli engine management adjustment of composition of mix is possible only reprogramming of the ECU block with use of the special electronic test equipment.
