12:17. Adjustment of the emergency brake

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For check of correctness of adjustment of the emergency brake to tighten the lever of the emergency brake against the stop and to count the number of clicks which has to make 6–8.
2. If the number of clicks differs from specified, it is necessary to make adjustment as follows.
3. To start the engine and to completely release the emergency brake.
4. To press several times a brake pedal, then to stop the engine.
5. To lift a back part of the car and to record on supports.
6. To tighten the emergency brake on 6–8 clicks and to check that both back wheels are slowed down.
7. If wheels are not slowed down, to adjust the mechanism.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Models with back drum brakes
1. For access to the regulator of the emergency brake to unscrew nuts and bolts and to remove the thermal screen.
2. To weaken a lock-nut on the mechanism of the regulator of the emergency brake and to turn a regulator nut until brake shoes do not begin to slow down the brake drum.
3. To tighten the emergency brake on 6–8 clicks and to check that both back wheels are slowed down.
4. If wheels are not slowed down, to adjust repeatedly, rotating a regulator nut.
5. After the end of adjustment to tighten a regulator lock-nut, to install the thermal screen and to lower the car.
6. To check that the control lamp of turning on of the emergency brake lights up after tightening of the handle of the emergency brake on one click.
Models with back disk brakes
7. For access to the regulator of the emergency brake to unscrew nuts and bolts and to remove the thermal screen, then to lower a back part of the car on the earth.
8. To block forward wheels and to check that the emergency brake is released.
9. To weaken a lock-nut on the mechanism of the regulator of the emergency brake and to turn a regulator nut before receiving a gap equal to 2,0 mm, between the end of a cable of the emergency brake(s) and a control lever the emergency brake on back supports (In).
10. Moving manually levers on supports, to check that levers come back completely to a starting position at an otpuskaniye of the emergency brake.
11. To move a regulator nut so that the distance between a back part of a nut of the regulator and the carving end of the plug of the regulator made 15,0 mm.
12. To tighten the emergency brake on 6–8 clicks and to check that both back wheels are slowed down.
13. If wheels are not slowed down, to adjust repeatedly, rotating a regulator nut.
14. After the end of adjustment to tighten a regulator lock-nut, to install the thermal screen and to lower the car.
15. To check that the control lamp of turning on of the emergency brake lights up after tightening of the handle of the emergency brake on one click.
