MODELS WITHOUT SAFETY CUSHION

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Prevention

At installation of a steering wheel on the former place it is necessary to use a new nut and a washer.
1. To establish wheels for the movement directly forward.
2. By means of the lever to remove finishing of the central part of a steering wheel.
3. To put combination tags between the end of a shaft of a steering column of management and a nave of a steering wheel.
4. Using a face key with the extender to unscrew a nut of fastening of a steering wheel on several turns.
5. Palms of hands, strongly to strike from a reverse side of a steering wheel to remove a steering wheel from shaft grooves.
6. To finally unscrew a nut and to remove a steering wheel.

Installation

Installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal.

MODELS WITH THE SAFETY CUSHION
Prevention

The control unit of a safety cushion is a component of a steering wheel.

At removal of a steering wheel it is necessary to fulfill the following requirements:

  – not to throw a steering wheel;
  – not to sort a steering wheel;
  – not to establish a steering wheel from other model of the car (even from other Peugeot 405 models) as the control unit of a safety cushion is calibrated for each specific model.

Prevention

At installation of a steering wheel on the former place it is necessary to use a new nut and a washer.
1. To remove a safety cushion.
2. To establish wheels for the movement directly forward.
3. To put combination tags between the end of a shaft of a steering column of management and a nave of a steering wheel.
4. Using a face key with the extender to unscrew a nut of fastening of a steering wheel on several turns.
5. Palms of hands, strongly to strike from a reverse side of a steering wheel to remove a steering wheel from shaft grooves.
6. To disconnect the electric socket from the safety cushion control unit.
7. To finally unscrew a nut of fastening of a steering wheel.
8. To remove a steering wheel, taking a plait of wires of a safety cushion through a steering wheel. Not to switch-off the electric socket of the control unit of a safety cushion (located in a steering wheel).

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal, taking into account the next moments:
      – to combine the tags put before removal;
      – to establish a new washer and to tighten a nut of fastening of a steering wheel the required moment;
      – to establish a safety cushion.
